This diet is advanced to clear diet, soft foods then a regular diet, as tolerated. It can be abbreviated in many cases, going from surgical clears to soft foods and then regular. However, I have no idea what her surgeon had in mind or what this hospital's protocol is. She should start with liquids; juices, popsicles, jello for a day to see how it holds down. Then if she can hold those down she can try solid foods. If they already have her on solid foods in the hospital then anything is fine. Most hospitals won't release unless the patient is on solid foods. Just avoid things that might upset her stomach. the first thing I ate when I woke up from m appendectomy was clear water, then ice water, then consomm茅 soup, and then then then...the meal of my choice: a grilled cheese sandwich.... Ur wife is discharged after appendectomy meaning she has been sent home. Patients who underwent surgery won't be discharged from the hospital unless the patient will be able to tolerate full diet except for patients who have feeding tubes. |
