If I ask for confirmation, can my doctor see if I had a miscarriage? |
I believe I was preg. right befor I had a stroke in June '07 (didn't confirm with a dr). While in ICU, I started cramping and bleeding and it was not time for my menses. When the nurse was helping me and I asked, she told me not to worry about it. One night the Dr. and intern were at my door and thought I was asleep. The intern asked if I had asked about the baby and the Dr. said no and that it was best not to say anythying in the event I did not know, but he said he suspected I already knew because I kept asking why I was bleeding. I had a sonigram in ICU (thought strange). I want confirmation now and want to ask my GYN, but don't want to feel stupid if he says no. Can he tell? Also, if yes, would the ICU Dr. put it in his private notes that I wouldn't see? I want to know if what I heard was what I heard. So, if not in notes, can it be told by and an exam so long after? I recently had a vaginal sonigram where the tech asked if I had been preg. When I said no, she said "hm." YOU have every right to your medical charts. Call the medical records department of the hospital you were at. Those documents may have to legally stay on their property, but they are YOUR history and YOUR record and you have every right to them. Pregnancy and miscarriage (among other things) can leave scarring inside the uterus...whether this could be seen from a sonogram half a year later, I'm not sure...can't think of any other reason the sonographer would think you had been by looking at the scan. dont be afraid to ask the doctors anything, that is what they are there for, too, ask the hospital for a copy of your records because they will alow you to get a copy and the answers you need will be in there |
