What can heel a wound in the leg?

My brother-in-law has a deep wound to his leg. He lives in Africa and the health service over there is very poor and they haven't got enough equipment. I want to help him as it is getting worse. I was thinking of the VAC Therapy but you can't buy it, only rent it. I heard about light therapy but I'm not sure about it. Does anyone know how much it will cost to stay in a private hospital to have his wound looked after. Maybe there are another ways I could help him, does anyone knows any machines for healing wounds that I could buy and send it to him and the nurse will look after it...etc. Be grateful for any help.

I just had a major surgery on my leg and a part of the stiches open out and I got this deep wound till I can see the tissue inside.
To make sure the wound properly healed and closed, I do daily dressing. First, clean the open wound with Normal Saline (for irrigation). Then, put some 'Mupirocin Ointment/Cream' on top of it, then top up with 'DuoDerm' (hydroactive gel to promote faster healing), cover with Bactigras (by smith&nephew), and close the wound with bandage. The wound will heal nicely. All these items are easily found in drug store. Your brother can do it on his own because its a very simple 3 minutes step.
