I'm actually wondering if two week old kittens have sexual actions toward one another? |
I recently rescued two fallen kittens that i was able to nurse and help get off to a good life. lately they have been licking each other in their private areas and things of that nature. is this okay?is this of the usual? No the aren't sexually active until they are six months old. They are just cleaning each other and it is normal. The answer is NO.. They may feel that another kitten is its mother and show motherly affections but that is ALL.. This is very NATURAL! You actually have to do something similar to them to make them urinate. Take a paper towel and wipe that area back and forth to have them pee. If the mother cat is not around, this NEEDS to be done or they will fill up with toxics! no Thats how mama kitties lick their kittens to help them go to the bathroom...that maybe what they're doing. Not to mention cats like to groom each other so its a totally natural thing to lick butts...kinda gross though...but its ok. NO I hope not. That sounds sick. They are simply cleaning eachother..nothing sexual going on here believe me. yes this is simulating the Mother cats licking to stimulate peeing and pooping as they have no Mom they are workign together to keep theier privates clean ..You should take a warm soft wet towel and help them out a few times a day .. google the orpan kitten info for addtioanl tips or take them to your vet for a check up and other suggestions Sue Little has a good reference for you at the following site well, i was raising kittens and one of the little females would try to nurse off of the boy kittens privates. they were taken from a feral mother at 2 weeks old and she was just trying to nurse. it' is nothing sexual. maybe your kittens are still young enough to need nurser bottles and kitten formula. Mother cats if left alone will nurse kittens for up to 12 weeks and in a domesticated situations kittens should be allowed to nurse until at least 8 weeks old. At that age it is not sexual. It won't be until they are 5-6 months old. This is the way that the mother cat stimulates them to urinate and defecate so this probably is soothing to them so they do it to each other. The only thing you have to watch for is that they do not begin irritating the area, if it begins to get red or swollen you need to take them to your vet. no those arent sexual actions its grooming don't worryabout it no way |
