So how do you know when..?

I just gave birth a few days ago, and the nurse told me that if my stitchs (in the private area) were to break to call my doctor imediately. i was just curious about how could you tell if your stitches break? what does it feel like? look like? etc.

Its like a pop feeling....mine actually were very sore until they popped because my doctor used the wrong size thread ....but I did heal fine and when I went and got checked he said everything was healing well and didnt need to be restitched...the stitches can be almost any color...mine were a greenish/black, but the dye in them fades with time...you would either see them on the toilet paper when you wipe, in the toilet, or in the shower. Most of the time the stitches do start to break or come out within a couple of days of giving birth, so I am very surprised she said this to you

(I have had 2 episiotomies along with 2 extra tears with my first and 1 tear with my second...I have healed fine and had my stitches start falling out just a couple days later)

I had 84 stitches in my first birth. They usually come out in your panties or in the toilet when you use the bathroom. You can't feel them come out or anything. They just fall out.

It feels AWFUL!! Oh my goodness I think that hurt more than the birth itself! You will know! When mine broke, it felt like a little pop, and then like someone had stabbed me! It hurt so bad I actually fell to the floor! So no worries you will know for sure!

Hmm.. i wonder why my doc didn't tell me this, but after my baby, i never heard of them breaking. just relax. In 2 weeks the nurse will check you, but im sure if they tear you will feel it. Although i never a story like that, Dont do no heavy housework.

Mine didn't break, but they ripped and I got an infection and it was so bad I couldn't stand. It took me 6 weeks to feel the way I should have after a week. If you think something isn't right, don't wait, just call and make an appointment. I wish I had sooner.

i don't know...i think it'll be painful!!!
