Someone please help?


ok for starters i have a very important doctors app a very personl one that consist of my heatlh on sat this sat coming up and today is wensday so that its at least 3 day notice secondly i work for comfort and care its a caregiver but i work for a private client at a big nursing home where i live ( i work as a cna) now my problem is i called work and explained that i can not make it to work on sat but i can provide a doctors note it is a 4 hour process i didnt talk to the head supervisor but the lady that i did talk to said that i have to tell them at least 2 wekks prior but the problem is i was never told that is it spicifically says that i have to let them know at least two hours befor my shift begins..............my question is this right what should i do and if they fire me cause she said this is considered a verbal warning can i sue them someone please help me

you have given them plenty of warning. they can't fire you for that. I would put it in writing and get it to the next higher supervisor and keep a copy for yourself. that way you have proof of the notice so she can't say you didn't give it. then give them a copy of the doctors note when you go back. if you have further trouble with it check on the grievance procedure. They have to have one.

Sometimes the need for a doctor appointment comes up and you need to see a doctor before two weeks' time. That's ridiculous. I'd talk to the head supervisor if I were you. If they give you a hard time you might be able to make a complaint to your local labor department.

I do not think they can do anything if you have a doctors note, How were you supposed to know you have a personal health problem? You are supposed to tell them before your shift starts. I think you can sue especially if you have a doctors note as documentation and you tell them well ahead of time that you will not be working.
