Where can i find out who owns a property?

I have found an old building which was a private nursing home which closed a few years ago and looks like it hasn't been touched since.

I am interested in purchasing it to convert back into the huge house it once was.
How can i find out who owns the building?
Google searches are dead links or old information with only the original phone number.
An old sign on the building says it was part of the British Federation of Residential Care Homes but all links to this are dead.

The property is located in the North East of the UK, i can't be more specific because you'll all be bidding for it! lol

ask the local council or the rats occupying it

Get a local paralegal to search land tax & registry office

The land registery will have the listed owners of that property.

I believe for a small fee they will send you the public records.

I'm not familiar with the UK but here in the state we can go to the local court house where property taxes are payed and they can tell you the property owner . Good luck

Alright. You need to get a copy of the register. Best way to do this is to instruct a firm of solicitors. Or, if you contact Oyez (Law stationers) and get the form, you can fill it in yourself.

You don't need anyone to do it for you, just contact the land registry... I have found them very help full..

On the Land Registry website, costs around 拢4 to download the title deeds which will give you the owner. All available online and instant access to the deeds once you have paid which you then save to your PC.
