Would you rather pay for a private, non-medical sitter for your elderly relative or put her in a nursing home? |
Would you rather pay for a private, non-medical sitter for your elderly relative or put her in a nursing home? I would rather have a private non medical sitter. I don't know, man... That is hard. There are super mean people who mishandle old people, so you should check into all options, and if you have them go to the elderly persons home, set up cameras or something to make sure they aren't abusing grandma or grandpa. it would depend on the way my relative is. do they enjoy being alone or around people? in nursing homes they can be around a lot of others+get the medical attention they need. a private person could offer them a good personal relationship. either way-get references depends on if i like her or not. in my case she's going to the home. I would feel better putting her in a nursing home, someone is always there. That's a hard question cause you can't find many good people nowadays. It would depend on you and your relative and what she wants. It is easier on you to put her in a home. But you have to consider how she feels. Does she want to be in a home? Can she get around at least a little, so she is not completely dependent on the home. I resented my parents very much when they put my grandmother and grandfather in a home. But they did nothing for them outside of the home. They never went anywhere, not even for holidays. If it was my choice, I would have her live with me until I have no other alternative. If she is your mother, then I say pay for the private nurse, Sometimes people will mistreat elderly people, I know that it is a hard decision I hope you make the best one. It's a tough question! I would have to ask that relative what they want before doing either one. If they would prefer to stay at home, then I would respect that and hire someone, prefferably with medical experience, to come in and care for him/her. If they are not comfortable anymore being alone at home because of health problems, then maybe a nursing home would be a better choice. Just remember, either one is a tough desicion and being in a nursing home that person would really lose a lot of their independence. |
