Could you?

work at a nursing home ,yet have an elderly mother at home and not take care of her?mind you,you are a rn RN.

I wouldnt

i would slap you. your mother should be first to be taken care of.

no i could not! the mom should come first!

that's comparable to a mechanic with a broken down car... or a dentist with a mouth full of cavities... where is the ethics involved in that? i would rather not work to take care of my mother than to leave her to fend for herself.. my mother gave me life, the least i could give her is a roof over her head, a belly full of food, and a warm bed to sleep in... one has to take care of those who take care of (or have taken care of) oneself first before all others... it's just the right thing to do.

I would take care of my mother one day she will be gone and than how will you feel to know that you have took care of other ones and not your own

Sure that sounds nice and all. You have to think of it in real life. Is it possible for someone to just quit there job to take care of a loved one? For the majority of the population this is not an option. I am a CNA and when my father was sick I took a week off of work in order to find him housing at a care home. That week set me back months of paying my bills. I was short on my rent and believe me my landlord did not care about anything other then his money. Some things are just not an option. So you need to think about how your going to live as well. There is more to think about then just taking care of your loved one. I would say do some research and find a care home that has a great reputation and location to where you live or work. That way you can visit every day. One that is not messy or stinky. You still have to live your life and pay bills. No matter how sick your loved ones get.
