What is the diffrence in a LPN nurse and a RN nurse.?

An RN does everything that an LPN does, except they can administer "IV push" medications and hang certain IV solutions, and LPN's can't. RN's have more management training than LPN's. By the way, STNA's (CNA) are the ones that clean up body waste, unless you work in a hospital, where LPN's and RN's both clean it up. BOTH ARE REAL NURSES. This message is coming from an LPN :-)

An LPN wipes the Poopy an RN, with a 4 yr degree, tell the LPN to do it.

LPN is basically and Associates Degree. They do more routine tasks, starting IV's etc. RN are 4 year BS degree and do more complex tasks.

LPNs change beds and diapers and get paid about 1 cent over minimum wage and are schooled about 6 months.

RNs have gone thru REAL professional training and are capable of getting masters and doctors degrees. They make about $2 over minimum wage.

A LPN is a licensed practical nurse and a RN is a registered nurse. The difference in them is the amount of education they have received. A RN can do more in the hospital setting than a LPN can do. RN's have more authority, but it is not a matter of telling the LPN what to do. We work together for the patient. RN's are supposed to respect the LPN and work together with her, not boss her around. I am a RN and appreciate the work that a LPN does. Not all RN's feel the same way. Many are on ego trips and think they are superior to others, but it takes everyone working together to help the patients.

My wife is an RN. She has a 4 year college degree in nursing. LPN's only have to go to school for 1 year, thats why RN's make a lot more money too.

RN- at least 2 years of school with less hands on training/clinical experience- must do it all

an lpn = licensed practical nurse and a rn= registered nurse because my step mother was once a registed nurse for a nurseing home at one time and she retired from it .so i hope this helps you to understand what they mean.

LPN (or in some states LVN), stands for Licensed Practical Nurse;LVN, for Licensed Vocational Nurse. Usually an RN(registered nurse), has slighly more education than an LPN..or LVN. Generally, an Associates Degree from a college with state board exams passed is the requirement for an RN.
There are many RN's who have Bachelor's Degree in nursing,
and some have Master's Degrees. The usual LPN, has only one year of college, but must also pass state board exams.
Depending on a facilities protocol, many LPN's perform the same duties as an RN. However, the RN's are better paid, owing to the extent of their education.

RN's have twice the education and more than twice the pay. LPN is usually a stepping stone for RN's in the making.
