Nurses in Maternity Leave?

I'm just curious as to how much a Registered Nurse in Ontario would receive on maternity leave. What percentage of income for how long?

Everyone in Ontario get the same Maternity Leave, it doesn't matter what your profession.

Provincially you are entitled to job protected leave. This leave only requires that the company not fire or demote you: 17 weeks of maternity leave, + 35 weeks job protected Parental Leave. Dad/any other parent who doesn't take maternity leave is also entitled to 37 weeks. Also adoptive parents are entitled to Parental Leave.

Federally, if you qualify you get paid while on leave. There is 15 weeks of paid maternity leave (after a two week waiting period) and for each child there is 35 weeks of paid parental leave which can be split between two parents or one can take it all.

There is also a chance that you would qualify for paid sickness leave under certain circumstances.

You will receive 55% of your income up to a maximum of $423 per week. There are many factors that go into calculating how much you receive including the unemployment leave in your area. The higher the unemployment leave the more "short weeks" you can preclude and thereby increase your average weekly income.

it depends on how long you have worked there and if its a hospital or what kiind of place it is. most places like that treat maternity leave like short term disablity there for you get i know here its like 60% if youve worked there for so many years...and it goes up the longer youve worked there.
THIS PERSON DOESNT SAY IF THEY ARE IN THE US OR CANADA SO I ASSUMED YOU ARE IN THE US, HOWEVER IF YOU ARE NOT, THEN ITS PROBABLY NOT THE SAME, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TALK TO YOUR BOSS AND FIND OUT!
