For the nurses out there....?

i was told that REGISTERED nursing, does MORE passing of meds and paperwork, than say, an STNA. can anyone give me an idea of which kind of nurse does what exactly? i was thinking of going in for RN, til i was told it's mainly paperwork, i don't want to do paperwork all day!! thanks!!!

Nursing is nothing but paperwork anymore. Believe me, I've been doing it for 25 years. It's not nursing anymore.
What you do depends on what area of nursing you go in and where you go to do it. Long term care facilities have probably the most paperwork. Hospital nurses do paperwork but not as much, but believe me, they have their share of it too.
A lot of nursing nowadays is computer too. Like I said, it depends on what field of nursing you go in.

Everything is paperwork now! When you go to the doctor, how much time do they spend talking to you. Now they have computers where I go, but it seems like they spend 90% of the little time I have just inputting data in the computer.

It really depends on the area of nursing you want to work in
Emergency nurses are in the thick of it all day long but as for floor nurses and care facilities it is alot of paperwork duty so if you want to be in the middle of it do your training then apply to an emergency or trauma nurse. hope this helps and nursing you can basically go worldwide once completed and licensed.

You are going to have to learn to smoke also. Now that some hospitals have become smoke free, you see nurses on the street corners like a bunch of cigarette hookers. You too can be one of them. Good luck.
