Nursing- pros and cons? |
What are the pros and cons of nursing?? I've been told it is a very stressful job. Is it worth all the stress? I want to be registered nurse. I've no doubt that nursing is a very stressful job, but I'm sure for those who make it a career it can also be very rewarding. No. In my opinion. I would never be a nurse. My mom is a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) which is one step lower than a Registered Nurse, or RN. She is so stessed out constantly. She is also very, can I say, hateful and complains alot. I believe since she has such a hard job with no help, there is a big possibility that it has alot to do with her mood. Also, there is hardly any help for nurses. They are needed everywhere, so if you really wanted to you could definently find a job. The pay is high from what I've seen, my mom works in a nursing home and makes about $20 an hour. But that pay is higher than most places because it is an extremely hard job. Especially with patients in the mentally ill state. For example, they may become very hard to deal with, refusing to take their medication, hitting and fighting against the nurses, etc...Also my mom has been taking for older patients for quite some time, 5 or 6 years to be exact. You will also experience heartache when your patients that you have taken care of for some time, pass away for some reason. All in all, it takes a very patient, strong person who is very passionate about the medical field of nursing to become a nurse. |
