Why do fast food restaurant managers get paid more than registered general nurses?

I am a manager of a fast food restaurant and get paid a lot more than a nurse, and think that it is wrong, I would like to go into nursing but what would be the point as I would not be able to keep up with my mortgage payments?

It's market forces, kiddo.

Somewhere in the great scheme of things, assuming that your claim is correct, employers have probably offered fast food managers less money and couldn't keep them. This created a disruption in their business and as a result, your salary is what it is today. Simply put, if you were not worth your salary, you would either receive a pay cut or be fired. However, those who employ you have decided that the job that you do is worth $x.

For the same reason, a registered nurse makes her salary. If it was not enough, there would be a shortage of nurses (which there probably is). If it were too much, those who are in charge of paying it would seek to lower it.

One factor that might contribute to it is that your fast food restaurant may be doing better economically than a lot of hospitals. With the costs of health care rising, there may not be enough to give nurses the raises they want, even if they are warranted.

depends on the nursing job you can get to 50k a year with full benefits!! You need to post some numbers please. If you get more in fast food its because of market forces.

you get paid more than most cops too...go figure

cause the medical field wants to attract people mostly who do it because they want to , not cause of the money.
true... money is an incentive and you need to live. nurses and docs get paid decently. but if you're looking for money pick something else.
legal secretaries make 75k. be a secretary.
painters if in the union make 80k and dont have to deal with blood.
people in finance make millions.and work a lot less.

fast food selling depends on commission the more u sell the more u get ur money,but nurses r getting fix salary every month.

Are you sure this is the case? Even a staff nurse on top increment can bring in a good wage, particularly working shifts. I think it's hard to change career because any move usually means starting on an entry wage. To train as a nurse now you would need to manage on a bursary anyway, and I'm not sure how the part-time training works.
Why not keep your current wage, and look at other ways to become invoved in health/care? Eg volunteering as a first-aider, doing voluntary care work, working as an agency care assistant, volunteering to go on holidays as a carer.
You can also train part-time for certain therapies, eg chiropody and the many complementary therapies. Good luck with it - there's nothing wrong with appreciating the security of a good wage.

a team leader in a big mac franchise would of course make more money than a 1st year nursing student. but dont kid yourself big mac and kfc are fast track to nowheresville. for the extra 50 cents or pence per hour as team leader you have to smile and serve crap to some spolit bastard because its his/her birthday and at the same time treat your workmates like dog ****. however i work as a site labourer and make more money than a registered nurse and a doctor and a maccy d "manageress" put together. all it costs is my runs to the infirmary and not my self respect.

No point in having nurses really.
All they do is carry paper around and spread germs.
Nurses stopped being nurses when Blair arrived after being initially undermined by Thatcher.
Medical care is non existent except in intensive care.
It is procedure orientated where medical need X gets X drugs and pushed into out patients.
Millionaires have been made while by giving patients death viruses, and targets are met by making the patients suffer longer.
