Is the work of Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses job duties similiar in alot of ways? |
Is the work of Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses job duties similiar in alot of ways? You could call a local techincal school to see how long the training for a medical assistant is...as far as i know, it is no more than a few weeks or a couple of months. Registered nurses must have at least 2 years of college, and now most places require a 4 year college degree. The job of the registered nurse requires a geat deal more training and has much greater responsibilities. Medical assistants often work in doctor's offices and take blood pressures, temperatures, and prepare patients for the doctor to examine. Most doctor's offices no longer employ registered nurses ecause it is so much cheaper to use medical assistants. Most R.N.s work in hospitals and care for critically ill patients, give medictions, and perform and assist with compicated and high tech procedures. Medical Assistants do more administrative work. Mostly they do light clinical work such as taking the basic vital signs. Registered Nurses are more indept, can give medication and have longer time in college for it. |
