How many Register Nurse in United States?

According to the US Dept of Labor:

*Registered nurses constitute the largest health care occupation, with 2.4 million jobs.

*About 3 out of 5 jobs are in hospitals.

*The three major educational paths to registered nursing are a bachelor鈥檚 degree, an associate degree, and a diploma from an approved nursing program.

*Registered nurses are projected to create the second largest number of new jobs among all occupations; job opportunities in most specialties and employment settings are expected to be excellent, with some employers reporting difficulty in attracting and retaining enough RNs.

There's no way to tell how many RN's there are in the US, but I can tell you there is a major shortage and there is predicted to be a shortage in the future. A career in nursing is lucrative. I am a health care recruiter and can guarantee you that a going for an ADN or BSN would be a great career move.
