Should registered nurses be banned from ever having a sexual relationship with a patient no longer in their? Over the years many nurses have gone on to marry their patients, let alone have relationships with them. It even has a name, the Florence Nightingale effect! -----care ?----- No. No, but they shouldn't treat them or any family members. No, not if there is no longer a professional relationship No...cannot think who would object? No I dont think that nurses should be banned from having a relationship with an old patient, its no ones buisness and you can put them uniforms to good use. lol. Seriously you should be ok if no one else is affected. Good luck. No. As long as it's not their patient, I don't see any problems there. If you met this person as a patient, then morally I would say no relationship, especially if you initiated the contact. However, if the pt. asked for your phone number and the pt. is no longer under your care, then that's a diff. issue. No further health care with pt. nor family should be given by RN. If you meet this pt. casually in a store or passing by and either of you initiate contact, then that's okay and not under health care guidlines. Remember your professionality and nursing ethics! It wouldn't bother me if the pt. initiated the contact. Why should they? There's absolutely nothing wrong with this as long as they are no longer patient and nurse. As long as the nurse is not a neonatal nurse and the patient a premature baby, and the period after discharge less than 16 years. No. What purpose would that serve? It isn't affecting their performance. If they are no longer in their care what difference would it make. Besides don't you think they have sexual relations with men they love who aren't in their care professionally and they still take care of them if they are sick. |
