Russian Nurse?

Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is Roman. I am a Registered Nurse from Russia. My diploma allows me to practice nursing in Russia without passing an additional state exam. My diploma, transcript, and license validation from Russia are accepted by CGFNS.

I have some questions regarding the application for licensure in Illinois. They are as follows:
1. The application part II requires Social Security number. I am a student and have no SS#. May I still apply for the NCLEX-RN examination?

2. Should I fill out the CT-NUR form even though I have never been required to take an exam to practice nursing in Russia? Part I.A is not applicable to me at all.

I appreciate your helping me in this matter. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Roman.

Though I am not knowledgeable in your field, let me try.

You can get SSN after you find an employer to sponsor your visa. Not sure if you can say "pending SSN" or something to that effect in your application.

Did you try searching the internet ?

Also, there were some immigration attorneys who answered questions via free web chats. Some must still be doing it.

I do believe that you will not get anywhere in the United States without a SS #! Is there no way you can get one?

I think you would need the work permit to get the SS number, you may have to change your status.
