Getting a job? New Registered Nurse?

Ok i am a new grad, just got my RN liscense two weeks ago. Posted my resume and applied to about 10 hospitals already and not one call back. Is it appropriate to go in a suit and tie and visit HR and say hey GIMMIE A JOB!!! (j/k) but i would say something profesional.

Also, what else can i do to help get me my first job in a new career. My resume looks horrible with almost no work experience (and im 25). most of my work has been under the table.

so any help besides "keep at it, bud" would be appreciated

Have you applied for jobs on job websites like Hotjobs,Monster, Careerbuilder and Craigslist? You could also search for jobs on websites like Simply Hired and Indeed. You can find more information at http://tinyurl.com/emdyn

Wow, you're an RN and you can't get a call back? Where are you located? My sister just finished nursing school (yesterday was her last class) and she actually won't get pinned until the 29th and still needs to take her boards but she's had a job lined up since the beginning of this month.

MI has a HUGE shortage of nurses. You could always move here. HA HA It's definitely a buyer's market (our economy is really bad). Our stupid governor plans to spend $48 million that we don't have on a campaign to encourage young adults to pursue nursing.

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU! Nursing is a GREAT profession and I give you a ton of credit. Try talking to the school who you got your degree from to see if there is career counseling to help you beef up your resume some!

I would contact a nurse recruiter for a hospital. They are looking for people like you. Once you get a job you will begin to get valuable experience, making you even more valuable.
Another possibility is to work at a nursing home. This is less
prestigious but they also need rns. Another possibility is insurance companies. They hire lots of RNs for their programs. Best Regards.
