Hi. I'm a Registered Nurse but I would like to work as a Medical Assistant (I know this is a weird question).

Could I challenge the Medical Assistant Certification Exam if I am already an RN? I know there's a big discrepancy in the pay from an RN to M.A. but at this point in my life, I need to do something with less stress. Thank you.

No matter if you are a RN or M.A. there will always be stress. Even those who work at McDonalds have stress at work. The pay cut is huge! How about looking for a nursing job that is less stressful...maybe a school nurse, some corporations hire nurses such as insurance companies( I worked with a few nurses at Aetna). Give that a try before you give up on nursing all together.

But you might be able to challenge the Med. assist. Cert. Exam... if that is truly what you wish to do. But the stress will still be there!

Believe me there is stress in all jobs.

If you are an RN, you should be able to pass that exam blindfolded. There may be less mental stress in that job, but the injury rate for CNAs is very high. It is not any easy job, especially when your RNs treat them like dirt.
