How much does a registered nurse start out making per hour? |
for instance, some one who just got their license, is it like $17-$20/hour to start out? This will vary greatly with geographic location and where you're working. Most RNs make more working in a hospital than they do working in a Dr's office. Also, it will depend on whether or not the location you're applying at is union or not. For my area, an average starting rate for a graduate RN (no experience) is about $20/hr. 27.00 but depends where you are at Go back to your question and specify the state. That is very important. Due nursing shortages, I've seen friends start at 24-30/hour. go to salary.com the hourly range you give is probably right, but there are also sign-on bonuses ($1-5k), time and a half for overtime, and extra pay for certain shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays). So the annual salary can be higher. I'm in OH, and the average RN salary is around $20 per hour, and goes up from there. |
