I am a registered nurse looking for a career change any ideas what i can do with my qualification (diploma)?

i also possess a mentor qualification

Teaching is always rewarding, especially if you're certified. Since you are familiar with health issues, have you considered EPA, OSHA or Environmental Health and Safety? They all pay pretty well from what I understand.

Try going in to mental health
or childcare
with the qulifcation you have it will be a very big start!
good luck x

Health writer might be a good possibility for you. You could write for magazines, newspapers, health organizations, insurance companies, even co-author books with physicians.

become a home carer.

You would really make a good social worker. At most sessions in the Civil Service where they have to assess a child for being neglected, there has to be (as well as the police), A social worker and a nurse present. You could use your experience aa nurse to springboard you in that career. Not to mention your mentor qualification.

you have a qualification for caring, so you could branch this qualification out in many ways, from health visitor to home help. I cant really advise you more than what i have said. Maybe consulting a career advisor will bring more career opportunities to the table.

If you are used to working long, strange hours, then you could try Law School. It is easier than Medical School.

IF YOU WANT TO STAY IN THE NURSING FIELD, YOU COULD DO TRAVEL NURSING. OR YOU CAN BECOME A LEGAL NURSE CONSULTANT. YOU CAN MAKE GOOD MONEY DOING EITHER. OR, THEY ARE DESPARATE FOR NURSING SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS-I'M NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF DEGREES THEY LOOK FOR, BUT IT WOULD BE WORTH LOOKING INTO.

You could go into mental health care or try being a CPN if you have the qualifications. How about working with disabled children i.e. Cerebal Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy? If you are into Maternity care what about becoming a Doolah? (Birth friend). Also community nursing. What about a school nurse?

Try a health care recruiter. They have lots of clinical and nonclinical positions available and may be helpful to you. The hiring company pays them not you, so the service is free to you. It is a permanent placement. Also, you could try an insurance company. If you like working with people an can afford school try massage therapy. I can relate I am a nurse also.....

The field of forensic nursing is absolutely exploding right now. Many of the large ME offices in my state and others are looking to hire them.

You will NEVER be bored. It is smelly at times, but infinitely intellectually stimulating, and the *clients* don't have the problems of bad personalities.

Final dx (get it?)

do u want to teach? colleges are looking for instructors, classroom or clinical, it might be a good change for u if u have mentor qualification...it is very rewarding but are u ready to leave the everyday excitement and adrenaline rush of being in the nursing unit??

Clinical research :)

I work at a company that sells vitamins and nutritional supplements. You could apply for a similar company or any company that sells food products.

Every thought of working with a GP as Nurse Practitioner, they are worth their weight in Gold and are usually a Bonus to local GPs.

Plumbing??? :S

Have you considered bar work? or perhaps a tobacconist?

I know this may sound weird, but I teach at a massage/bodywork school. In the short time I have been there I have had 4 RN's becoming massage therapists. Perhaps something you have not thought of.

would you like to re phrase that

Having a nursing degree means you can go into almost any arena in healthcare, you are very sought after. Have you considered managed care (health insurance), they work very traditional (9-5pm) hours, or you can consider home health care which is a very well paid position for a "hi-tech" nurse. One last arena that's been mentioned in other answers is the pharma industry, you can go to the websites of drug companies and look under their careers tab for listings.
