Is being a registered nurse a fulfilling career for a man?

Is being a registered nurse a fulfilling career for a man?

There are many opportunities in nursing, and there are areas of nursing preferred by men. Most men seem to prefer the acute care settings or going into an andvanced practice role.

Also there is a higher numer of male nurses in the military, than in the general nursing occupation. The chances of having an all male team of nurses is more than five times as likely to occur in the military than in the civilian healthcare world. One of the little known facts of military nursing is the high percentage of men in all three services. In the Army 35.5% of its 3,381 nurses are men; in the Air Force, 30% of 3,790 nurses are men; and in the Navy, 36% of the 3,125 nurses are men. One must remember that in the nursing profession that only 7% is male. In the Army, 67% of CRNAs are men, 40% of the OR nurses are men, 34% of ER nurses are men, 29% of critical care nurses are men and 39% of medical/surgical nurses are men.

my father has been a nurse for the longest time so yes I would say it is a fulfilling career for a man..

why wouldn't it be? you get out of your job as much as your put in. so if you are dedicated and work hard, any job can be fulfilling for anyone.

Yes.. male nurses are preferred by some patients. There is no reason for a nurse to be female instead of male. It is a highly technical, sometimes mechanical type of job that requires a bit of emotion on an occasion.... you only have to be human... not female.
