Is a Registered Nurse the highest nurse that you can be?

Is a Registered Nurse the highest nurse that you can be?

You can become a Nurse Practitioner but that requires a master's.

You can also be a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a master's program. The CNS is more in the hospital setting. The Nurse Practitioner is more of the clinic setting type.

There are also Nursing Educators and PhDs in nursing. Advanced degrees in nursing are master's programs.

By the way, a Registered Nurse can have a 2, 3 or 4 year degree. The bachelor's in nursing is the higher of the 3. The qualifications for nursing are evolving. The more education the more management and leadership opportunities. Basically this means that a RN does the same basic things in the beginning but that it quickly changes and depends on how you specialize.

What about surgical nurse? If more letters after your name can give you more income, then go for it!
