Registered Nurse..? |
If your a male and you become a nurse, are you somehow put down by other people in the hospital or family, or whoever just becuase your a man? Hmmm - sometimes, maybe. I have a close friend who is a male nurse. He is wonderful - very smart, hard working. He is a supervisor of nurses at the hospital. Some of his acquaintances teased him a little, before he became a supervisor. I don't think he's had a lot of that since - somehow I guess that seems like a more 'important' job to some folks. He loves being a nurse and having the interaction with the patients - he was my mom's nurse when she was in the hospital with pancreatic cancer. He was just wonderful to her and to the family for the two weeks she was there before she came home with hospice care. Several of the female nurses commented to me that he was just the best co-worker ever. noops i dun think tht... n i dun see it tht way.. both r professional n r treated same oh yes...it starts even before you are a nurse. A guy I worked with was going to school to become a male nurse and he was constantly teased at work and this was BEFORE he actually became one.....he later said it continued even after he got the job. Not at all. I have worked with quite a few wonderful male nurses in a hospital. One even became the charge nurse. Nursing itself is not just confined to females, even though alot of nurses are females. If you're a guy, and your interest is in the health field profession (specially nursing), i don't think it's a reason for people to put you down. I advocate nursing for males, seriously, male nurses are needed most specially to psychiatric ward... Yes |
