Well it all depends on the individual, now doesn't it?

I have seen many reasons behind senior men remarrying. I believe myself that it is usually because they have had someone waiting on them hand and foot all their lives, and are actually not capable of looking after themselves.

Most of the senior men who know how to cook and clean, etc, will do so quite happily and play the field. With no need to tie themselves down, they don't.

And the ones that remarry for money are the saddest of all. They have no self-esteem that requires them to work to support themselves. They are usually narcissistic and lazy. A bad combination. Too bad there are still women who fall for their false blandishments.

It's quite a sad commentary of mankind, actually.

I think that many who remarry when they are elderly remarry as they find that they are unable to take care of themselves--meals, cooking, laundry, etc. Many marry for companionship as they are probably lonely. And, I think there are probably many dirty old men out there who marry for sex.
When I think of senior men, I think of men in their late seventies and into their nineties so they could also remarry someone who can still drive.

Others may define senior men as men in their late 40's and into their 50's and into their 60's. They remarry younger women for ego, show and sex. (yuk!)

prefer to answer for companionship, doing things with another person, along with fulfilling ones dreams of not only being taken care of but also taking care of because this works both ways.

I am having real problems with this question. No woman in her right mind needs to get married. The women I know would have to think long and hard to marry someone they loved, let alone to escape "lonliness." I can see women marrying for security or for money..but I cannot see anyone, male or female, marrying to health reasons...surely women are smart enough to know what they are taking on when and if they way "I do." (I do not include young women in this group, far to romantic, idealistic, and fed far too many fairytales in their youth.) But let's face it, we have all been around the block more often than we want to actually talk about. I think your hair dresser is working out of wishful thinking, for no one has asked him/her to marry in any circumstances. That is really a very cynical view. Wives costs more than full time care, and ... there is no guarantee that the guy would not suddenly have a wife AND a full time caretaker...not much of a deal going on here. This statement also assumes that it is the MAN who will need full time care. Think again, I see as many disabled women as I see men out there. I do not believe that many women operate from a golddigger stand point, and I do not believe many men operate from a built in nurse stand point. Yes, there are a few Anna Nicole Smiths out there, but truthfully, they are so transparent, any relationship with these kinds of people is absolutely consentual...no matter who thinks what. Neither men nor women grow stupid as they age...if they are incompacitated mentally, then nothing they sign will hold up in court..NOTHING. And, I cannot imagine a woman trading freedom to be chained to an invalid for what is usually a meager amount of money..again, no woman is that stupid. Please give them some credit, and give men credit also. On the otherhand, I might change hair dressers, for this one seems to be stuck in the 50's...I certainly hope your hair styles are not. LOL

Huh? I'm a divorced senior, have no desire to get freakin married again. On the flip side, if it happens, it happens.

I'd think they'd marry to get another cook. Men are so helpless in the kitchen.

My husband would remarry to get a laundress. He can not figure out that washing machine dial, no matter how he tries! Not that much better with the drier settings, either.

Many men just marry because they can't stand the loneliness. In many cases, it has nothing to do with money, they just need the companionship.
