Are you a mother, and did you know that Islam states nursing for two years?

Islam states nursing for two years, but science has just found that this is the best range for a baby to nurse for the best health as a child and even in their senior years. How do you feel about this?

"Allaah Almighty Says (what means): "鈥is mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination." [Quran 31: 14]"

nursing for up to two years isn't only a muslim thing. i am not a muslim but based on my research, the longer a mother nurses, the healthier the baby would be.
oh, and by the way, there is nothing gross about it! not that i have experienced nursing for 2 years, because i am a first time mom of an infant less than a year old. but i'd say, if you are a mother, you wouldn't think something like that is gross! a mother would do anything possible for the betterment of her child and the child's health. good day!

Not everyone is Muslim

That people knew it before Islam or other monotheist religions ever existed.

I did not know that. I wish nursing was more widely accepted.

Is there someone who doesn't think they should do what's right for their baby just because Islam said it first? If this is what's best, then that's what you should do. It's hard to breastfeed that long, and I applaud anyone who can do it.

I personally think 2 years is a year too long.
By ONE year, the child should be eating & drinking what the REST of the family does.

Perhaps Islam was founded during severe food shortages, but that is not the case today in the USA. Nursing longer than one year is NOT necessary.

yea...my hubby comes from an islam family and his mom strongly wants me to keep breastfeeding...although im only going to do it until my baby wants to....i find it to be good..i wasnt breastfed and was a very unhealthy child..i always got sick but my daughter has only gotten sick once

by the way..do you think you could share the codes to your symbols..the flower is cute

Having recently found out I'm pregnant, I've given a lot of thought towards breastfeeding, and I just don't think I'd feel comfortable breastfeeding a two year old. By the time a child is that age, he/she should be developing "independence skills" -- drinking from a sippy cup, learning to feed themselves.

No religion can stay stuck in the 11th Century.

Yep, I knew that as I am Muslim...

It's good of you to share this.. I also know that in general there are so many things that Islam told people to do 1400 years ago and science nowadays discovers that it's best for people.. like things to do with health and other stuff.

Men should be allowed to nurse at any age.

indeed this is the truth, alhamdulillah

God knows best , however i was only able to nurse 2 months as i didnt make enough milk and pumping did nothing.soon the baby refused and screamed when i tried, she has never been sick and she has been on formula since, she is 7 months old. but i have noticed alot of muslim women here dont even bother to breastfeed because they are too eager to get back to work and leave their kids with a babysitter, even though their husbands have really good jobs and them working is not nessesery. they complain so much about how hard parenting is even though they may only spend 3 or 4 hours a day with their kids and leave them with a sitter the rest of the day. very sad. i decided to stay home and raise my kids instead of returning to work. i know how it feels when your parents are working all the time and you are left to your own self. you end up getting in alot of trouble and make alot of mistakes you wouldnt have if your parents were there for you.

You know muslimah, whatever information only proved to be true in our time by science, people will say " ah, the ancient people knew that "!!!! They will tell you oh the egyptians knew that or the greeks etc.

But I wonder if they knew everything that has only been proved true over the past century AND ARE CONSISTENTLY right.

Yes, i remember my mother telling me when she was nursing my little sister..(she's a doctor btw, so she had knowledge from both perspectives..).Masha Allah..

I think it's gross.

Yuck! Anyone who thinks SENIORS should nurse, is a bit warped.
