Christians, If evolution isn't true, then how do you explain this?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/06/25/sta...

鈥?Study: Drug-resistant staph may hit 5 percent of hospital, nursing home patients
鈥?New figure is 10 times rate of some previous estimates
鈥?Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus responds to few antibiotics

Some say evolution has never been observed. Well this is sure being observed.

I am so dumbfounded about all of the pro christian responses on this site. They are so self righteous and defensive. I reckon the next world war will be the christians trying to wipe out the non-believers... just like all the other atrocious events in history religion at the centre of them all!
Good luck to all us non- christians, non-believers and atheists. Oh and to answer your question... of course evolution is true. Every culture in the world has its own mythology about how the world began etc. The bible just happens to be one of those stories that so many people believe in. I don't get it, we all know that santa claus and the tooth fairy aren't real, so why can't people see that GOD is merely a symbolic idea for something that we have no way of explaining. :-)

Haha how can you expect them to answer that if they cannot comprehend evolution? Most intelligent Christians accept evolution and realize the Bible isn't to be taken literally as a science textbook.

I glanced over one of the links Morganie provided. It talked about "devolution." DEVOLUTION?? Evolution does not imply progress!! It are misconceptions like this that interfere with so many peoples' understanding of evolution.

Yes Cindy, it is a theory. "A set of statements or principles that explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena." Guess what? All of science is theory, so I guess we should deny all of it and get rid of all the contributions science has made. After all, God will cure our diseases!

Setmefree, yes, this is evolution. Evolution is a change in a populations allele frequency. This variation exists from mutations. What don't you understand?

knighteyres, you have obviously never taken an anthropology course. There are multiple species of animals from the genus homo that would be labeled "missing links"

I am done responding to stupid answers. Most people who do not "believe in" evolution do so not because they don't think there is evidence, but because they dont WANT to believe it. You could find a living Neandertal and they would still deny it.

The only thing Christians explain is why a person should put more money in the plate.

the reason we have no vaccination for the common cold, it is constantly "changing" so that our immune systems do not recognize it.

It's also called mutation and it is a form of evolution. Survival of the fittest. Those little oranisms are getting pretty smart!

I 'll give you the same answer atheist give christans:

stop shoving your beliefs down Christans throats, we have a right to believe what we want like you do

You see... Christians never "EXPLAIN" anything...

There has never been an "explanation". is it?

There are always two-three verses from bible and there you have it!

Biology textbook in three verses of bible.... Isn't that easy?

Um...it's the eleventh curse? Or one of the one predicted in the Revelation!!

[giggle]

Yep. I agree.

God made mankind and all the lands and all the animals.
End of story.
Get a life.
But more importantly, get God in your life.

Creationists do not claim that micro-evolution does not occur. It is macro-evolution (evolution from one species to another) that Creationists do not believe has enough evidence to accept.

Macro-evolution has never been observed and is merely hypothesized from observable similarities in phenotypes.

This is not evolution. Mendelian Genetics shows that some of the staph had a resistance to the drugs in their genes. The drugs killed the staph with no resistance, leaving the staph with resistance to produce off-spring that is resistant. This is not evolution.

Another point, they started with staph, and they ended up with, you guessed it, staph. Evolution is starting out with a staph virus, and ending up with a.............. monkey.

Survival of the fittest is not the same as evolution and in fact dictates against evolution. A creature that would be in some intermediate state of evolving having neither functional leg or wing for example would be toast in the wild.

It seems to me from your little observance of what you call evolution, that we will all be dead in no time.

Are you stating that we are observing our own end?
Are we evolved to the point that we must now end our evoling by killing our flesh off?

Interesting theory, yes I said theory.

I'm not sure you've got this correct. Most of these types of things are caused by people selecting for stronger pathogens by not completing antibiotic courses.

The weaker and stronger pathogens were always there, but the strong survived and multiplied. This is why they tell you you're supposed to finish antibiotics- even though you may feel better before you finish them. The pathogens did not evolve into anything different. The strong were simply allowed to live, multiply and be spread while the weak were killed off.

This may be a good case for natural selection, but not evolution.

I believe in evolution in bacteria and viruses but not for humans it would be different if they found lots of complete skeletal bodies in different stages
but they have not found 1 complete body that would prove human evolution if evolution was true there would be lots of bodies in different stages of evolving

Can the staph be killed by extreme temperatures?

Yes, that is correct about the bacteria but let's take a look as to why they are drug resistant.
The invention of Antibiotics was a boon to mankind, no doubt. As well as inoculations, the problem is men invent new antibotics to stop the mutated bacteria, so the bugs mutate again
man interveines, then a mutation - to where we are now. Evoluation is a good thing, mutation is another story all togeather.

How do you get "observed evolution" from any part of this article? How adaptive is it when simply washing your hands can destroy it? Are you people that desperate to prove evolution?

What does the fact that staph doesn't respond but to only a few antibiotics have to do with whether a human being was created or evolved? If a superbug that spreads from people in the hospital and now in to other places like sports and so forth, is being compared to a person evolving, then I am glad I believe in creation. I'm sorry if that sounded rude. But if you were trying to make a point for evolution, it failed.

Just shut up about evolution & creationism
the DEBATE will never come to a close.
just let people decided in what they believe and we will won't have silly argues. ;)

If you are referring to macroevolution (organism evolving into completely different organism), info must be added to the genetic code.
If a bacterium becomes resistant to an antibiotic , the genes which provide resistance must have already existed in some bacteria. This cannot be macroevolution because in macroevolution, new genes must be created.

Some of this resistance could be due to microevolution (adaptations within species) ---causing some bacteria to survive the antibiotic. Some of this resistance could be mutations and the resistance comes as a result of loss of information in the genetic code.

I think you really have to stretch to call this micro mutation an evidence of the much , much larger metamorphosis of one species into another. Isn't the whole basis of immunizing people against disease something like what is happening in this example? Does medicine coming up with a vaccine for a disease qualify as evolution in your book?

The staph germs in your example aren't mutating into reptiles, are they? No. they are still, at the end of the day...staph germs.

Isn't this because germs are highly adaptive organisms?

I think it is not evolution observed.
Evolution says ape - man. From one form of organism to another.

The germ only adapted to the drugs. It didn't evolved into another oraganism. That it turn into something like a plankton or a fish.

Same as humans when we are introduced with vaccines. We develop anti-bodies and we are resistant to some known sickness.

Evolution is just a theory of what likely happened because it seems like it happened but not true science. It is being accepted by general as a hypothesis not a fact. Just the same as creation theory. Both are still under research.

get a life... god works in mysterious ways
