What do you think about an adult that still lives w/ his/her parents? |
I'm a 23 year old lady whose turning 24 very soon. I've moved out 3 times and had to come back home due to roommate problems, debt, and issues w/ insecurity. I'm working on my issues now so that when the time comes, I'll be ready emotionally and financially. I just noticed that people have a stigma to young adults still living w/ their parents...why so? It kind of makes me feel self-conscious and embarrassed. I'm studying to become a nurse and work part-time on the side so I don't feel like I'm leeching on my parents. I do a lot of chores as well. But...I can admit that I'm a bit scared of being on my own...because of my social skills. One thing I hated feeling when living by myself was feeling lonely... I don't know about everyone else, but I personally don't see a problem with it. I actually find it admirable that you can swallow your pride and move back in with your parents, there aren't many people can do that. Unless, ofcourse, it gets out of hand and you're still there in your early 30's; that's when you should worry (but even then, it's not a big deal. Hell, I have an uncle of mine who's in his mid-60's living with his mother -- primarily because his house burnt down and he hasn't been able to get back on his feet). The majority of the 20-somethings I know are getting their college degrees, while still juggling jobs and personal lives and all that. They're all still living at home because they can't afford to pay tuition, rent and everything all at once. I see nothing wrong with you still living with your parents. You are working and in school. Your trying to better your life. hay baby ease up...its accommodation right? don't be scared. its a process, after a while, you will get use to it. i think it would be perfectly fine.i myself don't see me leaving my parents house till i am 20 or married (whichever comes first) |
