Applied 4 a job opening, turned in Resume, what should I say when I call 2 see if my app. has been considered?

Any suggestions please! I don't want to blow it when I call!
I really need a job! I applied as a Registration Representative for a Hospital because I want to get my foot in the door...I'm studying to be a nurse!

THANX A MILLION!

I applied 2 days ago.

I need a job too!! I'm getting good at the "applying online, turning in my resume, and waiting" scenario. Here are a couple of tips for when you should call:

Since in all honesty a great handful of people will apply for any entry level position, these recruiters will have to sort through a few resumes, maybe up to a 100 before they start calling in people for interviews. I would wait a week from the date you sent your application in. You kindly call them up, ask to speak to human resources, and just state that you applied through online/snail mail/ whichever route, and ask if they had gotten your resume. Come off polite on the phone, interested, and eager to get an interview. If they said they still haven't had a chance to review your resume, then ask kindly when I should follow up again or the next step they are taking. You can work this angle to many questions. Just try and form a connection to the person your talking to, and believe me the way you sound -- passionate about the position, confident, eager to make the first move -- will come off strong and impressive to the recruiter.

Good luck on the application! I hope it comes through; believe me its rough out there. Just be patient and you'll persevere

Politely say "Hey bich, WTF up with my application?"

Just relax, sound confident, and if they call it just means they are ready to set up an appointment. I they don't, then ask for an appointment at their convenience.

I think your supposed to wait for THEM to call once youv'e done all that. You might seem desperate if you keep calling.

But what do i know?

"I'm calling to follow up on my resume that I submitted for consideration. I would love to come in and speak with someone regarding a position as Registered Representative if they are available."

Call everyday until they have hired you (or someone else) that will make you sound eager to work!

i would call the person you turned your resume into...if you don't know the person ask for someone in Human Resources when you call. After the person picks up or you get their voicemail...sound confident and tell them your name and that you applied for the registration representative position that was open, and that you were wondering what the status of your application was.

If you have a contact person at the company,
" Good afternoon, may I please speak with (contacts name)? Hello (contacts name) my name is (you name here) and I am calling to check the status of a resume I submitted on (date)."

If you dont have a contact,
"Good afternoon, may I please speak with someone in the human resources department? Hello, my name is (your name here) and I am calling to check the status of a resume I submitted on (date)."

Good Luck with the job!!!

Hi... well, just be very very very polite, respectfull and call them and ask that you had applied and would like to know whether a candidate has been selected. And ask if you can know whether your resume is being considered. They will definitely answer you and there is no such thing as you will blow it up unless and until you are really arrogant and do not show respect.

Word for word (Hello, my name is (your name). May I speak to the manager in charge of applications? (when they answer say:)Hello, my name is (your name). I'm calling in regards to a position I applied for on (day of filling out the application). Could I get the status of my application?

I really suggest waiting until they call you. WIllingness to work is one thing, being overly aggressive is another.

hi my name is (insert name here) i applied on (insert date application was put in) and i was calling to check on the status of my application.

Never hurts to call. If fact you should ALWAYS follow up a resume or an interview with a phone call. DO it now, just ask them if they've considered your resume and would they like to schedule an interview. It will get your resume to the top of the pile and could even get you a first person to interview spot. Make sure you are able to give your name.

"Hi, I'm calling to check on the status of an application I submitted a few days ago. My name is...... I'm applying for the Registration Representative position." or if you know who to speak to already just ask for them or their extension. Leave a message if no one answers!!! "I can be reached at 555-555-5555..." and say 'thank you!'
Gets em every time!!! lol and good luck!!

"I recently submitted an on line application for the position of Registration Representative. I just wanted to make sure it had been received, and if you had any questions or needed additional information."

Once they give you the status, I would say "Thank you. I appreciate you assistance."

I probably wouldn't call again after that, unless they indicate you've in line for an interview within "x" number of days, but you haven't been contacted.
