| *Home>>>Study Nursing |
It's my first year in university and..? |
studying to be a nurse, and I'm not even sure if it's the right thing for me or not. Has this ever happened to you..will the feeling go away? I'm in my senior year...and still not sure. Take classes in different fields...intro classes. You'll find what peeks your interest. EVERYONE changes their major...I did it a few times! you most likely change your mind several times. If i had it to do over again - i would be a nurse It will not go away - change now before you waste anymore time. Absolutely normal! Most people do have those feelings...I would start by taking core classes (math, science, English...the ones that are required for all degrees) and take some basic electives while you figure out what you want to do for sure. Eventually a lightbulb will go off and you'll come to find you have a true passion for something that you DO want to do...and when you get to that point, if it's anything other than nursing you'll at least have completed some classes that will contribute to anything else you decide to study. But don't worry, eventually you do figure out for sure what you want to do! I changed my degree a week into my first year, 10 weeks later I dropped out, the next year ernolled at a different uni and after one semester there changed my degree again... that was three years ago and I think I'm on the right track now. Can't say the feeling has gone away though. Most of the first year classes are basic classes to get into your major. You're not really doing anything as far as hands on activity until your junior and senior year. My advice would be to wait another semester at least and if you feel nursing isn't the right place for you then you should change your major to something you think would work best for you. Well I studied for 4 years and graduated with a BA in history when I was planning on going to law school. I never even applied to law school, and am back in school taking pre-requisite classes for medical school. You may be fine, but college is the time to decide what you want to do, you don't need to go into it already knowing what you will do the rest of your life. Oh you're thinking about changing your major? Common as hangovers at school. Think it over and keep focused! Dont quit because its hard, but if its something you're not passionate about, better sooner than later. I bet you thought a lot about wanting to become a nurse and personally I think it's a great choice. If you are 17 or 18, how are you supposed to know what you want to do for the rest of your life? I went from harp performance major to chemistry major to computer science major to English major and african american studies minor to vet tech major to graphic design and computer animation major to medical billing and coding specialist graduate (through 4 different schools). My last school was the cheapest. I wish I could've figured out to do it before I accumulated all that student loan debt. |
