What if i'm a cat and i am going to be dissected?

okay, i am studying to be a nurse..and as a part of our anatomy subject, we dissect cats(we already did). imagine that you're the cat i'm gonna dissect, what would you say to me before i cut you? i'm asking this because i'm feeling guilty when we 'kill' cats.

The native Americans do or did say a prayer to each animal before they killed it; briefly told them that they were doing it for a reason and that they ( the animal) was appreciated. I commend you going to nursing school, but surely the cats are dead before they are dissected? I cannot imagine a live cat being dissected for ANY reason.

i felt the same way. but them someone told me that most of those cats they have were ferrel that they found on the street dead already or it was in so much pain or so sick that they put it down, so you don't have to worry, you didn't kill it, it died on it's own time

Well, you're not killing the cat, it's already dead, right. So, I wouldn't say anything to you if I were already dead.
I love cats, but a dead cat is dead and it's for learning's sake, so I wouldn't feel that guilty about it.

I too am a nursing student, and will have to dissect a cat eventually. I can understand that you feel guilty, and undoubtedly I will too. But consider that veterinary students do the same thing, but on multitudes of animals. You just kid of have to, shut the caring part of yourself off for a while, I am told. Though I can't help but think of the animal under my knife was a shelter kitty that could not find a home.

If I imagine that I am the cat, I imagine that I am dead, as no nursing school anywhere allows/makes their students kill the cats, or dissect them alive!

Please do not feel guilty - it gives the cat dignity in death to be a part of the educational process of a student who may save lives and care for the sick and dying someday.

Well I'd be dead. So I wouldn't care.
