Hey, who here is either in the army, marines, navy or national guard?

I am studying to be a nurse and I want to know if anybody knows what a nurse could do for the military and if there are any scholarships around.

There is a program called "Nurse Recruiting".
I am serving in Iraq currently, and have been here since I retired from the US Army.

Dont pay attention to the "hype" about which uniform looks better or whatever....... pay attention to the bottom line.

The whole package needs to be considered, the uniform is inconsequential in the end everyone wears the ACU pattern over here from US Army to USAF and and beyond.

The services all have some very strict guidelines about what constitutes a "Nursing Degree" specifically what organization "credits" you with that degree.

If you are currently on a College campus, try walking into the ROTC office or call all the recruiters. Listen to what they have to say, and try to cut through the "hype".

No medical service is any better than any other, but many of the hospitals here in Iraq now have Army National Guard medical personnel. The Doctor and Nurses that treated me last month were from Boston General in real life and were members of the Army National Guard as well.

We are always in need of Good Medical people here.
Not because of anything in particular, but I think these military people over here deserve to have the best care possible.

you would want to be a nurse in the the Air Force

You could go active duty or you could be a civilian nurse.

Here's a site if you want to look at it...

yeah 20 and retired Air Guard

In USMC, you can be a lawyer but doctors and stuff and nurses are mainly from the Navy...well, that's where us, Marines, get our doctors and nurses from.

In the Marines they do not have a medical field. The Navy, Army and Air Force do. Air Force is the best to look in to. However... Army might have more scholarship stuff. Navy is cool but... do some research. At military.com and the different sites. There is ALOT of info out there. Have fun exploring.

You could be a nurse in any of the military. I can only speak for the Army (my husband is an Army recruiter) but they offer programs that pay for your student loans. If I were you, I would go to your local recruting stations and see what they have to offer. Good Luck!

17 years in the army national guard. In most states you can go to college for free. Scholarships require a commitment after you graduate. In the guard you can stay in long enough to get your degree and then say goodbye after your enlistment is up. My state is also offering a $20000 bonus to enlist.

Navy here. They offer tuition reimbursement. Check out ROTC scholarships too- search for nrotc scholarships, if you are still at a point in your education where it would be of use to you. Best advice is to talk to a recruiter and then dig a little deeper into the info they give you. Thanks for your interest!

Please don't go into the army!!! You will be sent to a country where you're very likely to be killed and if something happens to you the government couldn't care less.
