What do you know about Witch Hazel? This morning I bathed my hand in warm water with Witch Hazel in it.?

I have hurt my hands practicing boxing and playing basketball. Bathing them in Witch Hazel felt good but did not seem to do anything for my swollen nuckles.

If some of you are nurses or have studied medicine, have you heard of using Witch Hazel? What do you think of it?

You might have to do it more than once, I remember a long time ago I had been trampled on and my face got pushed up against a glass wall. When I got up I had a huge green and purple knot on my forehead. Well anyway I used a cloth soaked in witch hazel on it for hours that night and by the next morning the swelling went down considerably, and the following day it really wasn't noticeable at all except for a little bruising. So it works, maybe you shouldn't have diluted it in water though, and you're going to have to use a towel to press it against your hands for a few hours each day. Also alternate with ice it prevents swelling

Witch hazel closes your pores. Some folk use it after cleaning their face.

Witch Hazel is great, it takes the heat out of sunburn, it reduces swelling and prevents bruising, and takes away puffiness under the eyes. But you have to use it NEAT right out th bottle you do not add it to water. I keep mine inn a spray bottle in the fridge.
For you get a pair of cotton gloves or use bandages and sock the witch hazel in them then wear them overnight.
