Can a person with schizophrenia bipolar type become a Registered Nurse?

I want to know if I can study full time taking nurse classes. thanks

There's actually no disorder called schizophrenia bipolar type (at least not in the US). You may want to get an exact diagnosis from a doctor in writing; you'll need it when applying to nursing school because schizophrenia and bipolar are both mental illnesses protected under the ADA (they can't refuse to let you in school because of the condition unless it interferes with your ability to do your work or pass the classes; and you might be eligible for additional funding or help as well).

I knew a girl who was schizophrenic and she took care of her father but she could not work out the house. IT was hard for her to concentrate on work or study

As long as your condition is under control, yes.

It is a little complicated considering you are in a certain condition but if your illness is well managed and you believe you can do it...then why not?

There's no harm in trying...

Did you know John Nash? He was schizophrenic and yet he won a Nobel prize...don't let your illness bar your dreams...

i hope i helped...

No. There are too many risks. A bipolar person should not be taking a stressful job that could cause them to lose focus and hit a low. A person with schizophrenia should not be working. They are unpredictable and many will stop taking their meds because they think they are fine and then relapse. You need to have complete control of your disorders to take on such a tough career.
