What is Med/Surg nursing?

I have an upcoming class called Med/Surg nursing and I really don't know what type of stuff we will study. I haven't asked a teacher yet and can't find any good info on the net. What does Med/Surg nursing mainly focus on?

no, it's not surgery as far as i know

This is basically patients who are recovering from non-orthopedic type surgery, and those that have acute conditions and diseases. You can read more here

Surgical pts.

med/surg= medical/surgical. this is a wide variety of illnesses, hence, medical illnesses and surgical illnesses. medical illnesses could be congested heart failure, seizures, stroke, weakness (you get it?). you will learn how to access patients, document, plan of care for medical problems. surgical: hysterectomies, gallbladder removal, including interventions, follow-up care. it is a very interesting course.

Med/Surg nursing is a specialty course that nurses take .A nurse in general work in assissting doctors or work in hospital caring for patients that are recovering from surgery or other illness..but a Med/Surg nurse is a "Medical Surgery Nurse" who works in the operating room with doctors while they perform operations it's extra qualifications that nurses go to school for to be able to do this job.

I just finished my med/surg course. You study body systems. For example, Cardiovascular, you will learn about heart failure, for Respiratory you will learn COPD, asthma etc.. It is very intersting.
