Can I go and study at uni withoit A levels? |
I was always interest in health studies or nursing. I have very good gcses except maths which you seem to need for everything. I live in the west midlands if anyone has any advice to help I would appreciate it You can as a mature student sometimes, but it very much depends on the university, the course and the tutors as to whether you are accepted on a certain course. I went to uni without alevels, did BTEC ND instead. You'll need some form of further education to get you to the right level. Perhaps you could get a work placement where they offer training, this could help (you could then apply in a year or so and have on the job experience as well) Hmm, i think A Levels are somewhat of a pre-requisite to gettiung into university. What you can do though is go to college for a year, get a HNC in your desired subject and then go straight into Year 2 of University (thats in Scotland, i'm not sure if the process may be different in England due to the fact that a degree can be completed in three years down there). I think you have to have a-levels to do a degree, when I was at college this is what we were told and only on achieveing certain grades would we get in. I am at university and to be honest having a-levels acted as a platform before I started this course, as the work is a lot harder and the expectations at university are quite high. Yes you can. My friend is in Uni at the moment studying to be a nurse and she didn't have any A-Levels. You can do a diploma in nuesing with 5 GCSE's. UCE do the diploma in all areas of nursing. Birmingham Uni only do it in general nursing. Science is more important than maths for nursing. You can also do an access course for a year if you'd rather do a degree, or just go and do your A Levels. probably not as you can't spell without. you could try an access course - a friend of mine has just applied to do one in our local college in health studies. It lasts for one year 3 days per week. I would advise you to do a maths GCSE or A Level because you definately need maths to get into uni, but maybe you could do maths as part of the access course, check it out. |
