I'm uncertain abt my decision to become a nurse. I love nursing but am indecisive and scared to make a change.

I'm scared of blood..I receive comments frm frens that hospitals is an unhappy environment to work in..I'm vexed..Coz i plan to study nursing..Pls help..

I'm a CNA right now.... I've been trying to figure out the same question. Should I become a nurse??? Well, I'm not. I'm enrolled in a 2 year course to get my associates degree in medical assisting. you get to help the doctor in the office or run the paperwork part of the office. I'm doing that then going for my physicians assistant which is bacholers degree.... good luck :o)

Some places (retirement homes, some local hosbitiles) will let you 'work' as a nurse volinteer - try it and see if you like it.

It depends on the type of nursing course you are looking for. As a nurse you must not be afraidof blood but if you have phobia of blood you may consider working in polyclinic where the chances of you exposing to blood is minimum.
Alternatively you can consider the next course that may be suitable for you when you go to the polytechnic to study. I believe that there is more than one course suitable for you.

Hi

In nursing, there are alot of conflicts but the real happiness is when your patient is discharged home or to other Nursing Home... Nursing is not only seeing Blood, u'll see vomittus.. At first you might not like it, later on you'll slowly overcome your fear.. As a nurse you must not scare of blood.. As a nurse you must have a listening ear to the patient and when the patient is going to discharge home she will feel happy that his/ her need is met.. So being a nurse is good.. As for yourself at home, when your family is injured or hurt, you can help them to see the medicine which is prescribe by the doctor and they will be proud of YOU being a nurse. Ask GOD of your thinking...

Good Luck..
