I finally got the study place of my dreams, how can i study successfully with 5 children?

i finally got an admission to study nursing and i am overjoyed over this.i have been applying for years without success but last year i was successful and a prestigeous university offered me a place.I have five children all under 8 yrs old. The university where i will study is in another country and that means moving.i know this is not going to be easy with five children, but i am not going to miss this study opportunity for anything.i have waited for it for years.Anybody ever gone through such a phase? or know anyone who did?how did they cope?what did they do to make things easy for themselves.

Try to make them go to bed early that way you can have time to study because I KNOW that NURSING is not easy so do whatever you can to have them go to bed earlier than usual and also use the time you have at school if any to get any study done at the library. If you have any family around that can take them for you for a night that will help also.

Good Luck

IT IS JUST TIME MANAGEMENT WE ARE LUCKY THAT WE CAN CHAT ANYTIME OF THE DAY WITH INTERNET USE THAT TECHNOLOGY AT ITS FULLEST

It takes adjustment and support from your spouse in order to do it. I work in the US for a medical school in the West Indies and I see our students do it yearly. With the right support and patience it happens. I would also pray for strength and sanity to get you through it. Good luck with your studies.

Congratulations! But you need to make your concerns a little clearer . . .

Are you alone? Do you have a spouse, or a relative, who could move with you to care for the children? This is going to be extremely difficult if you do not. You cannot leave your children alone. I don't know about visas for non-spouses - that might be difficult.

The next thing I would do is contact your University. Many of them have on-campus child care for students and faculty.

Now, if you have someone at home and your concern is simply how to work in study time, I would plan on working your day as if you have an 8 - 5 job. Leave home, go to class, and study in the library. That will help stave off interruptions and keep the children's caregiver from having to deal with the stress of keeping them away from you.

Good luck.

Planning and dicipline is key. I moved to another state with three children. Not easy, but anything that is for the good is possible. Make sure your goals and dreams are for the family as a whole and not just you. Remember, when you make the decision to become a parent, you make a decision to sacrifice part of your life for another human being.
