Why do people study nursing ?

Why do people study nursing ?

We nurses don't become nurses because we didn't or couldn't complete medical school. Nursing is an entirely different profession! It's a career and a calling. It's not for the money. We have more contact with patients than doctors. We can make a difference in the quality of life, not just for patients but for their families too. We become an important part of their lives. Nurses are obligate teachers -- we are in a position to educate and the ethics of our profession requires us to do so.

When a person is dying in hospital, it's a nurse who is with them. Reassuring them that they won't die alone, maing sure that they can leave this world free of pain. We are the ones who close the eyes and the mouth, clean the body for family viewing.

We do these things and so much more because we care about others, because the science of life, death and everything in between fascinates us, motivates us.

Nursing is one of the most honorable and noble professions there is. Certainly there is "dirty work" but that's part of life. We are in a rare position to see the worst in people....and the best. We get to witness and share the courage and the purity of spirit that most others never know about let alone experience.

Nurses have the privilege of welcoming life into this world and helping those leaving it to exit with grace and dignity.

And just talk about job security!!!

I am so proud to be a nurse that I can't imagine being anything else. Nurses have one the highest "trust factor" ratings in the world.

There a thousand reasons why men and women go into nursing...some are the wrong reasons, most are the right ones. And most of us have one thing in common -- we care.

Money
You would think it is because they want to help people, but nursing is a tough profession and a bit thankless and very understaffed, most people know this. Every nurse i know has goneinfor the money. You are employable after 3 yrears and many companies will help pay for you advanced education. they go for the cash flow.

Because they don't want to go to school longer to be a doc. so they settle to be a nurse.

Why do people study nursing UUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMM so people like you can ask DUMB QUESTIONS. Seriously nurses didnt want to become Docotors because we have more contact with the patients than Doctors. Also nursing is the LONGEST Career around. It has been going on since the ancient greek. There was more male nurses at time during the ancient greek times. Then in Victorian ages woman that got in trouble with law prostitutes etc were sentenced to take of ILL PATIENTS. Also there is a shortage of nurse like till 2010 so its a GOOD JOB FIELD TO GOTO INTO.

I knew ever since I was a little girl that I wanted to be a nurse. I like to take care of people. I like everything about nursing. I like the money too. I didn't want to be a doctor, so the person who said that was wrong. I knew what I was getting into when I went to nursing school. I think nursing is a "calling" - not everyone can handle it. But the ones who can - we'll have a special place in heaven.
