Were you ever scared by blood?

There are a lot of doctors and nurses floating around here(hopefully) who can answer this. I've always wondered if medical professionals, especially surgical-related ones ever or still have a fear of blood, needles and gore. Did those fears generally fade away as you became older? Or are doctors born with the innate ability to look at large amounts of bloody body parts without getting squimish? I'd think it would be impossible for anyone to pursue a hands-on medical career if they are freaked out by blood. I'm not and never have been but I am uncomfortable at the sight of hypothermic needles and some pictures of a really bizzare and grotesque surgery.

I am a phlebotomist, and I have also worked as an aide in the operating room. Blood, needles, most surgeries don't bother me. I think the coolest surgery to see (from a medical, non empathetic viewpoint) is an amputation. However, I have seen autopsies on video, as well as brain surgery, and those two things really turn my stomach.
And as far as phlebotomy is concerned, I am great at my job, I give a painless needlestick and I "get blood" 99% of the time, but I HATE having it done to me. I think its the trust factor, do you really trust the person holding the needle? When I go for bloodwork, I only let my best phlebotomy friend stick me, no one else will touch me with a needle.

I'm not a doctor/ nurse... I could never be one because needles gross me out... The thought of having to give someone a shot, of puncturing their flesh, THAT creeps me out. Blood and guts don't bother me so much tho... I have a degree in physical therapy which required me to do an in-patient internship at a hospital.. I had one patient whose legs were so swollen that the flesh was literally just splitting open... Didn't bother me... I had another patient who had surgery on an artery in their leg... During our session the sutures popped and there was blood EVERYWHERE. I honestly thought she was gonna bleed to death in front of me. Didn't gross me out tho, lol
