I'm really streesed out at my job and I want to know if I should stay or go. The people I work with are rude.

I am a surgical technologist on a labor and delivery unit. I work along side nurses and doctors. The nurses however treat me as if I am beneath them. They use me to clean their patients after deliveries and say things that are demeaning. I'm comfortable where I work (I know the ropes) but I'm unsure if I should stay or go. Should I stay even though I'm treated with disrespect?

Hi..... boy do I know where you are coming from. My last job was a nightmare. I was working for a company as a manager and being treated like crap- and paid peanuts in the process. By the last couple of weeks that I was there before I quit- I was so upset and stressed out I would come home crying. It not worth it in the long run- too much stress on your body and it can snowball into other aspects of your life, like relationships etc...

In the end I went looking for another job whilst I was still working for the other business. I secured a position and then handed in my notice straight away. I ended up in a job I love now working with some very lovely people. (And I am not upset at home anymore!)

After reading what you said, I would have to say that you should leave. If you have the opportunity, then take it. You shouldn't have to go to work feeling like that. Try what I did and look for something else in the meantime. You might find a job that is a million times better. (Which judging from your description might not be that hard...)

I hope you find a job that is more enjoyable.

Can you find another job easily? If not, I'd say stay and do your best to keep your chin up and ignore those rude people. Don't let them get to you. If you're comfortable and like what you're doing, then stick with it. Remember, getting another job doesn't guarantee that things will get better.

Well you could try to put down and make them do it. Something tells me that you've just recently applied and been accepted. You could always be rude back to them but then you wouldn't be any better than them.

Either way start looking for another job anyway. Have a look around at places and see if they seem better.

You could try to fight against all the staff there by using grievance procedures and management, and even so... they'd be faking it.

Hospitals always need people like you to help them out and you shouldn't have to go around being tread on by people that you have to work with.

If you consider that you want to stay at your job though.... let them know that you don't like them talking to you like that. You're a doctor, they're a nurse. You rank higher than them and you get paid more. It's not your job to do their job for them. If they're just slacking around then lodge a complaint about it and if all else fails leave and then you can crush them with insults and tell higher level management about the problems on the way out.

The nurses are jealous. Do your job; ignore them; do what you are expected to do within your job range, and keep on going. You will be treated with disrespect wherever you go. That is the nature of people, in general.

Medical world often very feudal. I had the same experience with you although I had a very good position there. Then, I tried to find the other job. When my contract ended, I already had the other job in my hand.
