How long does it take for a surgical scar to heal completely? |
operation was 7 weeks ago today, still have scab at end which will not heal, nurse thinks it is piece of thread, but there was only internal disolving stitches and then glue. Some scars heal quicker than others. everyone is different. But you will always have a scar as a reminder Sometimes never It will dissapear if it want's to dont worry..... My first knee surgery took a good 4 months to heal completely and each time they cut into the same scar it takes longer. I have found that Vitamin E oil works best in helping to keep the incision moist and also helps to minimize the scarring. You can usually find it at Wal-mart or your local drug store. I had a similar scabby-scar thing at the end of my "dissolving stitches" but it lasted about 3 months before it finally went away. After that the scar healed up pretty well, but now 5 yrs later the scar tissue is still slightly pinkish and very noticeable on my ankle. Some of them don't, depending on the size; I have a few that I have had for years, a couple, almost all my life. I have heard of something called Scar Solution that you might find in your pharmacy, that might do it for smaller scars though. |
