What do I do after the first examination on Lifesigns Surgical Unit for the DS?

I examined the first patient, with appendicitis. I told her to get checked in, and then the game sort of left me hanging. I can go to the nightshift room, where nothing happens, the examination room, where nothing happens, reception, where some nurse tells me she doesn't want to look at the chart, or pediatrics where some lady says "appendicitis.. are you.. sure?" but then does nothing else. There isn't a walkthrough on gamefaqs or anything. Does anyone know what to do?

I got stuck there for a little while too. I went back and talked to everyone and showed them all the stuff that I had in the medical files and finally got somewhere else. The little brother shows up in the waiting room or something, as I recall.
