Is it the nurse responsibility to clean used surgical instruments prior sending them for sterilization?

Is it the nurse responsibility to clean used surgical instruments prior sending them for sterilization?

At least at out hospital, a scrub tech takes care of the instruments. The dirty ones are sent to sterile processing for cleaning & sterilization.

If you are worried if it is the Nurses responsibility to do something, then maybe you shouldn't be in Nursing.

Each facility has their own protocol for the handling of used surgical instruments. Hopefully, if you are a nurse you have read your list of assigned duties.
