I am applying for a nursing job in a surgical ward. What will I put for the reason for wanting surgical ward?

I need advice preferably from a nurse

I would tell them that because surgery can be a very difficult time for both the patient and their families, you feel especially able to handle both taking care of the patients and interacting with their families in a professional, yet sympathetic and nuturing way. Say something like, "I know it can be a difficult time for both the patient and their family, and I feel especially qualified to be involved in their healing process because I can balance my dedication to excellent patient care with the ability be a support and comfort to the family."
Hope that helps...I also am studying to work in health care:)

cos you like sewing and are handy at pottery

Like to make a difference and help people who are in real need also feel would provide you with invaluable work experience

if you dont know i hope im never on your ward, what a stupid question.

That you have a feel for surgical nursing and that the routine of changing dressings and making the patients comfortable appeals to you.

No you dont need advice, you need to think of the answer. They dont want someone else to tell you why you want to be there. They are asking you.

As you will be dealing with surgeons you should say that surgery offers a different level of treatment to what a medical nurse or physician can offer. Research surgery and it's benefits. Medical and surgical nursing is very different.
