Begining to think about emigrating to adelaide advice ? |
i live in scotland, me and my partner want to emigrate to austrailia next year we have decided on adelaide due to the weather and lifestyle, i am an a and e nurse and my partner is a car valeter how easy will finding employment be? (i plan on looking before we go) and are rental properties easy to come by? we will only need a 1 bedroom and we are not going to be fussy the first year, but are there any areas to avoid living in? also i will seek employment at a hospital but i dont drive will public transport be a problem? and lastley with regards to visas will it be easier for us both to get a visa if we are married, we have been happily living together for 8 years but would rather put our money into traveling than a wedding. Thanks for any advice Getting visas is definately easier if you are married, and if you use an immigration agent. Jobs in Adelaide are available, especially in nursing. Housing is a problem at this time. Rentals can be hard to find, and there are reports that potential renters are actually bidding on units. The single most important advice I can give you is that you should take a month, come to Adelaide as tourists, and make sure this is the city for you. Australia offers a lot of choices. Pease, don't get me wrong here. Adelaide is my favourite city in Australia, but you need to make that decision for yourself. Visit first. It can prevent a lot of problems. go to www.realestate.com.au there you can check out pics of houses/units for sale and rental properties. The eastern suburbs and beach side suburbs are expensive. I wouldn't recommend living in industrial areas like the north western suburbs a lot of heavy traffic like stinky trucks, factories the wingfield dump. smelly.... Nursing job, no problem, we have a shortage. Your partner may have to have a career change, but work is easy to get if u r under 40. Rental properties r tight, but 1 bedroom may b a little easier. Good luck. Adelaide is boring, trust me I live here, another four years of saving and I;m out of here, pick any other state, you will have a better time.. i can tell you one thing!! go to spats and have dessert there............i know this has nothing to do with your question...but i had to tell you Adelaide is a great choice for the both of you, Being married would make it easy but being a nurse will help you as we are currently short on nurses statewide. Using a migration agent will also help you with the legalities fo settling into Australia and Adelaide. Employment opportunities etc etc |
