Can I drink two pints of water and hold it for an hour?

The instruction leaflet for my forthcoming scan says I have to drink two pints of water or juice an hour before the scan so that my bladder will be full. I doubt I can dring two pints of liquid and hold it for an hour (during which I will be travelling to the scan). If you were me would you practice? any nurses out there with any advice?

try not to worry it sounds like more than it actually is. as someone else said drink it when you get there, its only so they see what they need to ..I take it this is a first scan for pregnancy?? you dont always need to have a bladder bursting to the seams... and If they cant see properly they will give you some squash to drink..

Good luck xx

think of something else! youll have to hold it! Report It

I have no idea but an hour doesn't seem long.

Why not arrive at the facility early and drink the fluids there so that you don't have to drive with a full bladder. God that would be awful, especially when you drive over a bump!

i had an ultrasound and that was what i needed to do. it was torture but ok

2 pints is not a lot...that's only one quart...or 4 8-ounce (juice size) glasses...you can do it!

Im also due for a scan next week so I did a test and found I could hold it for two hours so you should be OK,I did find that after drinking the two pints of water I felt quite ill for a short while, don't know if that's normal, anyway do a test and see how long you can go
