Please help: Is it possible or likely to get a serious blood clot from an IV? |
I was at the hospital yesterday and the nurse stuck an IV in my inner elbow and it was excruciatingly painful but I forgot what IVs felt like so I sucked it up. It hurt so much I had it on for about 3 hours, and it hurt as much as it did when it went in. Anyways it was an IV put there just in case, so it wasn't attached to anything it was just like a little tube thing with my blood rushing out (but stopped by the tube) and I wondered if my body was sending tons of blood clots there to try and "stop" that flow of blood. Not actually my arm but my IV looked exactly like this: millions of people everyday have a IV placed into their arms without any problems or ill effects i watch a lot of greys anatomy and doctor shows like that i know its stupid but i think ive seen it happen on there so maybe idk not at all iv not causing blood clot silly person go and ask your doctor. |
