Can my baby fly for 9 hours? |
She will be 4 months by then. I read that this ear drum rupture thing is just nonsense. I'm actually more worried about germs and the dry air up there. I know that nursing during start and landing should help. I'm flying to Europe with my 14 month old in my lap, we are taking US airways and they charge full price for an infant seat, we couldn't afford that. At 4 months, your baby will probably sleep most of the time your in the air. My advice, take the car seat up to the gate with you, and ask for a seat for your baby if one is available for free, most airlines will accomodate you if the flight isn't full. Also, since she's so little, consider asking for a bassinet during your flight, you'll be seated in bulk head and she'll have a comfy place to sleep during the flight, just bring a blanket or something to lie down in the bassinet before you put her in it so you know it's clean. Have a safe trip! for a 9 hour flight, i'd opt for the carseat... that way you can hold her, and she can have a little space of her own as well; i wouldn't worry about the flight itself though, just like you said, nurse during take off & landing, and be prepared for a cold once you get there *lol* the baby should be fine. if your so worried leave her with afriend Every child is diferent. Talk to your dr. have you had her ears checked? I have a niece who was wearing hearing aids before she was 9 mos. Be safe not sorry... talk to your dr. ask for tips about flying. Put yourself at ease so you can have a good trip. You will get many suggestions on here, but your talking about your childs health. So ask a professional. As far as her flying, a baby always feels safest in a mother or fathers arms. Doesnt mean you have to hold her the whole way. But do remember if you go for the carseat they charge for a seat. But you have the option of putting the child in it. 9 hrs is a long time Id want that option. I traveled with my daughter when she was about 3 1/2 months old. It is *not* a problem. In fact, it's a great age to fly because their needs are pretty simple!! There are undoubtedly germ, but *wherever* you go, there are germs. I never had any problems with dry air, either. |
